Camacho, R-Saipan, said dead animals on public roads are horrible to see and pose traffic safety issues.
“It is unsanitary and inhuman to see the animal on the road to be continually run over. It is further necessary to keep our roads and island clean and environmentally healthy for our citizens and tourists alike,” said Camacho.
Under House Bill 16-186, DPS must remove the carcass of any dead animal on the road, be it a dog, a cat, a horse or a cattle, among other animals, by placing it on the side of the road away from the traffic.
DPS must ask the Saipan Mayor’s Office to dispose the carcass.
