Community activist Kathy Kesolei and former Head Start Director Regina Mesebeluu remained on the list of the top 13 candidates as of midnight, Friday and were on their way to becoming Palau’s first female senators.
The election commission still has to tabulate absentee ballots requested by mail tomorrow, Nov. 11.As of Friday midnight, the top 13 senatorial candidates were Surangel Whipps Jr., 6,461 votes; Raynold Arnold Oilouch, 6,073; Mlib Tmetuchl, 5,360; Joel Toribiong, 5,086; Kathy Kesolei, 4,947; Mark U. Rudimch, 4, 891; Hokkons Baules, 4,437; Adalbert Eledui, 3,934; Regina Mesebeluu, 3,731; Alfonso Diaz, 3,603; outgoing President Tommy Remengesau Jr., 3,579; Regis Akitaya, 3,144; and Paul Ueki, 3,044.Trailing them were Yukiwo P. Dengokl, 2,917; Adair Sumang, 2,915; Caleb Otto, 2,891; Temmy Shmull, 2,865; and John Skebong, 2,861.
