Korean company eyes $300M hotel on Tinian

Hyun Myung In, Neo Goldenwings Paradise Co. Ltd. president, and Kwi Dong Woo, its chairman,  yesterday met with Gov. Benigno R. Fitial and Department of Public Lands Secretary John Del Rosario to present the blueprint of their project.

“I am encouraging foreign investors to come. Any investors that will come during my administration are fully supported,” Fitial told the businessmen.

The governor said his office will be “fully engaged” with Neo Goldenwings Paradise when the construction of the 1,000-room resort will begin.

Fitial assured to support the plan when it is submitted to the Legislature.

Rep. Edwin P. Aldan, Covenant-Tinian, said he is optimistic that the new hotel  will help boost the island’s economy.

“I will support the project,” he said.

He added that the proposed hotel be erected in the Pina area, which is a public land.

Del Rosario said once the project is approved by the Legislature, the company will immediately proceed to the groundbreaking.

He said the project will be the biggest investment in the CNMI.

The hotel, he added, will have a casino guest hall, an observatory walkway, an international conference room, sauna and fitness center, heliport, an outdoor concert hall, a performing stage, an indoor ice rink, horse riding ground, a golf lounge, bungee jumping tower, a water park, a sports center, and a movie theater.

It will have a Chamorro Village so that guests can experience and learn Chamorro customs and dances.

The hotel will likewise have a sea port for its Saipan-Tinian shuttle cruise and an airplane for sky tours.

Hyun Myung In said their business will also provide international conference service, tourist hotel management, leisure and sports management service, and bonded sale and money exchange service.

It’s the first time for Neo Goldenwings Paradise to invest on CNMI, Hyun Myung In said, adding that the company gave up its plan to establish a hotel and resort in Vietnam after they learned about the good business climate on Tinian.
