Hofschneider, Reiman, Babauta are outstanding KagHS employees

The school’s teacher aide of the year is Lieta Reiman, while Bernadita Babauta was chosen as support staff of the year.

“I was surprised when I found out… I never thought I would be teacher of the year,” Hofschneider told 12th grader Margie Camu, who wrote an article about this year’s KagHS awardees.

Hofschneider has been teaching for  29 years now. She attained her master’s degree in secondary mathematics from the University of Southern Mississippi in 2003.

After teaching for two years in the Philippines, Hofschneider taught at Mount Carmel School for five years, three years at Marianas High School and 16 years at Tinian High School.

She is now in her third year at Kagman High School.

“I always tell my students to continue to think about their dreams after high school,” she said. “Whatever they do after high school, I want them to succeed in whatever career they lead on.”

She said she’s always excited to teach something new to her students each day.

Hofschneider teaches Algebra 1 and 2, Geometry, Pre-Calculus, and Trigonometry.

KagHS Teacher Aide of the Year Lieta Reiman said she was “shocked because I never thought I would be chosen.”

In an interview with a  student, Reiman said she loves children and  enjoys what she does.

“This is one of the reasons why I wanted to become an educator,” she added.

She has been working with the school for three years now.

Bernadita Babauta, KagHS support staff of the year, is the school’s registrar and has been with the Ayuyus for four years.

“I didn’t expect to [win] because I had already been chosen before,” she said. “I was very surprised and excited. It was a proud moment.”
