The joint office, in the capital Honiara, is the result of discussions which began two years ago when the international financial institutions were asked by the Solomon Islands government for more engagement.
The ADB’s development coordinator in Solomon Islands, Paula Uluinaceva told Radio Australia the office will help Solomon Islands with technical assistance and small public and private sector grants.
Uluinaceva said it will also help ADB’s wider plans.
“This is really part of the ADB’s intention to enhance engagement not only with the Solomon Islands but with other Pacific member countries as well.”
