Two paintings donated to Museum

A non -profit organization called Leeboo society was formed in 1996 to promote and preserve Palauan culture and history through art.

The Leeboo society has given numerouse artworks to other organization such as the portrait of queen lady to Bilung and Ngarachamayong, Investiture of Rubak to President Tommy Remengesau Jr. and they are the ones that built the statue of Leeboo at the Palau Community College Campus.Last December 11, 2008, Leeboo society donated a painting called ‘the Great Encounter” to the museum. The artwork is an actual scene on the morning of August 15, 1873 when King Abba Thulle (ibedul) first met Captain Henry Wilson and the crew of the antelope on Ulong island.  Capt. Wilson was carried to King Thulle’s canoe where they first meeting of the two leaders took place. The original sketch was made by Henry Wilson Jr.Masaichi Etiterngel, Riumd Moses Sam, President- elect Johnson Toribiong and Jackson Henry presented the painting to Tina Rehuher of the museum.The reason why the painting was given to the museum belau was that Toribiong  are promoting palauan culture and history through art.
