The association members staged a brief ceremony on December 15 at Palau Community College (PCC) to affix their signatures to the association’s articles of incorporation and by-laws, which they have diligently worked to put together.
The Palau SDSU Alumni Association is organized exclusively for educational purposes. Its basic aims are: to promote a highly dynamic and effective learning community; to further the educational goals and aims of the association members; and in turn, to positively influence the educational mission of the Republic of Palau for the benefit of its people.According to Raynold Mechol, a member of the association, anyone who is a graduate or enrolled in the SDSU graduate, undergraduate, and extension programs coordinated through PCC is eligible to be a member of the association. In addition, membership eligibility is extended to the faculty members of both PCC and SDSU’s Interwork Institute.The association had tentatively scheduled its first annual membership meeting for the third week of January 2009. Any person who has interest in joining the association is asked to contact Sherman Daniel at PCC or Raynold Mechol at the Ministry of Education.
