Mariano Iglecias, CUC’s acting deputy director for water and wastewater, yesterday said “water has to be safe.”
Their ongoing water treatment operation, which equips their manpower the proper tools and training, is part of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s stipulated order, he added.
The EPA cited CUC for its failure to operate the plants properly, resulting in sewer overflows, in violation of the Clean Water Act.
Iglecias at the same time announced the lifting of the water advisory for Lower Dandan, Holiday Dr., Independence Lp. And Natibu Pl.
He said in less than 30 minutes, CUC’s water division was able to treat the water that tested positive for E. coli bacteria.
As for water production, Alan Lebria, CUC water division distribution manager, said three water wells have to be repaired, but there’s no water service interruption on island.
The KG-76 well is scheduled for reactivation after setting up its transformer and pump so it can supply more water in Kagman 1, 2, and 3, he said.
Also needing pump and transformer installation are KV-23, which services Koblerville, and IF-204, which covers Fina Sisu, Kanat Tabla, Middle Road and Beach Road, Lebria said.
