Woman in marijuana case enters plea agreement

Julia Mesubed appeared on Friday for a plea hearing. She entered a guilty plea to the charge of one count of trafficking of a controlled substance.

However, the plea agreement has yet to be accepted by Chief Justice Arthur Ngiraklsong.Under the plea agreement, Mesubed agreed to enter a guilty plea to count one, the trafficking of a controlled substance.The government in exchange of her guilty plea, will dismiss the count two, trafficking of a controlled substance.The maximum sentence for trafficking is eight years imprisonment and or $5,000 fine.If Chief Justice Ngiraklsong accept Mesubed’s plea, she will get a probation sentence.Under the plea agreement, Mesubed will be sentenced to three years of imprisonment but all suspended.Mesubed will be placed on active probation for the entire term of the suspended sentence.She will also pay a fine of $250 and will be evaluated at Bedochel Clinic for possible substance abuse problems and shall attend and complete any treatment programs recommended by counselors.Mesubed was charged for selling marijuana at her work.The affidavit submitted in court states that a buy bust operation was conducted on October 23 and October 28 at the Kabekel market in Ngerbeched.A confidential informant managed to buy two sticks of marijuana from Mesubed during the two separate buy bust operation.
