Letter to the Editor: Time for change?

Back in June, July, August, September, October and November, we were made to feel like part of the American family; indeed, that our voices would be heard, while presidential candidates wooed our delegates’ votes prior to the Democratic and Republican party conventions, and then while we celebrated the president-elect’s victory with the audacity of hope for a better tomorrow.

So, of course, I was excited to see the announcement for the essay contest, and thought I might give it a try.  But as it turns out, we are NOT invited to the inauguration, save for our Republican governor (that is, the governor’s office), who will follow protocol and attend, along with a couple of staff members.  The invitation to join that essay contest is open only to residents of the 50 states and the District of Columbia.  Forget about the territories, more so the unincorporated one!

Audacious, bodacious!
