Introduced by Youth Sen. Meagan T. Norita, the resolution requests the 16th Commonwealth Legislature for appropriate funding for the renovation, repairs and maintenance of the beach pavilions, along with a site cleanup not only to serve the tourists but residents, too.
“It is the duty of the Youth Congress and the CNMI Legislature to ensure that our tourists and residents are provided with proper structures to accommodate their needs,” the resolution stated.
It added that the beauty of the beaches are tarnished due to lack of proper maintenance and funding for repairs.
“Some of the beach pavilions and other structures are in dire need of a fresh coat of paint and other renovation. Aside from being unattractive, the state of dilapidation of the structures around the beaches also poses a safety hazard to the beach goers,” the resolution stated.
It added that Saipan’s beaches are visited by locals and tourists who travel hundreds of miles to spend time here for rest and leisure.
“With our continued ailing economy, we must look at every aspect and every opportunity to ensure that we keep assisting our economy,” the resolution stated.
Bills and resolutions approved by the Youth Congress are transmitted to the Legislature for its consideration.
