In a letter to Senate President Mlib Tmetuchl, Toribiong said that Pierantozzi’s credentials make her qualified for the position.
Toribiong said that Pierantozzi has held a number of leadership position in the national government.Pierantozzi was the late President Ngiratkel Etpison’s Minister of Administration, in 1996 she was elected senator, in 2000 general election she was elected as Vice President and served as Health Minister until 2004 and in 2005 she was elected to the 2nd Constitutional Convention.“Sandra Pierantozzi’s resume speaks further details of her background, professional experiences and accomplishments. I trust that you too will find Sandra’s credentials in order and certainly qualify her for the post of Minister of State to which I have nominated her,” Toribiong said.The president at the same time urged the Senate for the expeditious confirmation of the other appointed ministers , “so as to allow our administration to serve the people of Palau without undue delay.”Last week, Toribiong on Wednesday named appointees that will comprise his Cabinet. The appointees were ; Johnny Gibbons, former Koror Governor is named Minister of Justice; Peleliu Governor Jackson Ngiraingas is Minister of Public Infrastructure, Industries and Commerce; Dr. Stevenson Kuartei as Health Minister; Masa-Aki Emesiochl, Education Minister; Scott Yano as Minister of Community and Cultural Affairs; and Youlsau Bells as Minister of Natural Resources, Environment and Tourism.Earlier Vice President Kerai Mariur was named Minister of Finance.
