Letter to the Editor: Tyranny

I am sad to read all of these hate letters. Funny how some islanders want to cry how bad America is with one hand and beg for more money with the other.

So many are praising Obama and MLK for all that they have done and will do. I wonder how long it will take for your bubble to burst?

MLK did not have anything to do with the writing of and the voting into law of the 1964 Civil Rights law. White men fought the Civil War and created the civil rights law. Brown and black voters did not elect Obama president. The majority of voters were white. Black voters — 92 percent — voted for Obama.

Here is something to think about. If 92 percent of white voters would have voted based on race John McCain would have won a landslide victory over Obama.

Facts are amazing, aren’t they.

Even more amazing: white men from America came to the islands and freed you from 300 years of Spanish and 30 years of Japanese tyranny and blood shed. After that those terrible white men in Washington gave your local government millions of dollars and other benefits to help you have a better life.

Now all some of you do is curse these white men. Thousands of young Marines just like me put on that green uniform and rescued you from the real tyranny you were living in for almost 350 years.

Why don’t those of you with so much racist hate in your hearts stop and give thanks where it’s really due?
