In a recent letter to the editor he asked four questions that any candidate for the office of governor.
1. Will you prosecute any public official if misdeeds are found committed while in public office?
2. Will you prosecute white collar crimes, government corruption and government abuse? Regardless of who is involved?
3. If elected are you going to follow the old traditional way of covering-up one’s misdeeds in public office simply for reasons that he or she is family or a close constituent?
4. Do you have the courage and commitment to take on the impossible, without fear of reprisal or retaliation from political parties or constituents?
These question and their respective answers are crucial to our island. The next governor need start answering these questions responsibly with the common good of all in mind.
Step forward please! Are you out there? We need you (not some old line politician who is the reason why we are in crisis mode at the moment)!
Surely there is a man or woman of integrity and responsibility amongst us who will start” cleaning the house” immediately. If you’re out there, please come forward. We need you. We need you now. We’re ready.
Just come forward. Our next governor should start to work together with feds, not sue them. We are subject to the laws of the United States and we need a governor who will be a facilitator for better relations — not a roadblock. Step forward please. Too bad Tina Sablan is not 35 years old yet. She would be a perfect choice. Surely, there are older Tina’s out there somewhere.
These questions need to be asked about the Legislature as well. There are too many people out there who continually re-elect the same old non-truth telling (we’ll start naming names soon) politicians who are dragging this island into the toilet. All people who want to give the Legislature back to its people come forward. We need you. We need you now. The old guard will be asking (and of course try to buy) your vote. Do not let them! If you keep sending the same old dinosaurs back, we will continue this path of mismanagement. The foul smell will continue and we won’t get any better.
The next Legislature needs to be imaginative and bold.
They need to start regulating CUC. They need to start regulating themselves. They need to get smaller and they need to be totally proactive in tending to the business of the CNMI.
Start showing yourselves, please. We need you now.
Don’t be afraid of all the bluster you’re going to here from the old guard. They’ll promise and buy votes just like always. Get up in their faces and tell them to retire and fade away. C’mon! We know you’re out there! Step forward. NOW IS THE TIME.
