JOSEPH Santos and Corry Pangelinan earned their second straight first-place finishes in their respective classes during round 5 of the 2022 Monster Energy Points Race Series on Sunday at Cowtown Raceway Park.

Santos, who notched 50 points to top the novice class, had a smooth ride and was in control in both heats of the race. As soon as he gained the distance, he never looked back as he executed tight turns and kept the momentum flowing with well-timed jumps to stay ahead of the competition.
In second place was Ethan Yumul with 44 points. He shadowed Santos throughout the entire race, finishing second in both heats to earn a podium finish.
In third place was Aric Cruz who showed great improvement after he placed seventh in round 4 of the series last month.
This time, his consistency and speed allowed him to finish third in both heats, and bag overall third place.
In fourth place was Bob Ferrer with a total of 36 points followed by Ponce Rasa in fifth place with 32 points.
Intermediate class
Corry Pangelinan was also in the spotlight following another 50-point finish to remain on top of the intermediate class.
Pangelinan’s dominant performance throughout the series so far puts him well ahead of the pack with only two rounds left.
In second place was Tristan Sablan with 40 points while Melvin Cepeda triumphed in the tiebreaker against Henry Camacho Jr. with a third-place finish in heat 2. Both garnered 38 points. In fifth place was Byron Castro with 34 points.
Expert open class
Dave Celis emerged victorious in the expert open class, thanks to a steady performance.
He finished first in heat 1 and despite finishing second in heat 2, he managed to stay on top of the food chain with a total of 47 points.
In second place was Ellery Cruz with 45 points while Champi Villacanes bested Patrick Togawa for third place in the tiebreaker. Both scored 38 points, but Villacanes finished ahead of Togawa in heat 2.
In fifth place was Charles Cepeda with 33 points while Melvin Cepeda finished sixth with 31 points.
