FREE veterinary services continue to be offered on Saipan as the U.S. Army’s 445th Medical Detachment Veterinary Services Support conducts its veterinary mission.
Many community members have lined up in the early morning outside of Saipan Cares for Animals, as well as in the afternoon at the Gualo Rai Youth Center to avail themselves of these services.
Spay and neuter operations will continue at Saipan Cares for Animals from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, June 24, and from Monday, June 27 to Thursday, June 30.
On Saturday, June 25, they will only be offered from 9 a.m. to 12 noon.
As for vaccinations, operations will continue at the Gualo Rai Youth Center while supplies last.
Vaccinations are available from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. today, Friday, and from Monday, June 27 to Thursday, June 30.
This veterinary mission is in partnership with the Commonwealth Bureau of Military Affairs, Saipan Cares for Animals, Boonie Babies, and the Gualo Rai Youth Center.
The mission aims to provide military personnel with Innovative Readiness Training or IRT while providing direct benefit to communities.
IRT is a program under the Secretary of Defense that allows servicemembers to work with local communities in need of assistance.
The team comprising medical experts from the U.S. Army Reserve and the 807th Medical Command based at Fort Douglas in Salt Lake City, Utah arrived on June 15.
Veterinary appointments are not needed. Services will be offered on a first come, first served basis.
