An air circuit breaker, which is used to protect the equipment from an overcurrent situation, was temporarily opened to allow for a quick repair, CUC said.
This caused a power outage from Capital Hill to Kagman.
Gary P. Camacho, CUC power division manager, said the power outage started at 3 p.m., affecting Feeder 4 that comprises portions of Capital Hill, Kagman 3 and portions of Papago and the Botanical Garden areas.
Capital Hill, however, only experienced a momentarily power disruption, he said.
CUC repair and maintenance crew also undertook a replacement job on the two pole top pins in the area, Camacho said.
“We dispatched two separate repair crews to fix the defective system in the distribution line,” he added.
According to Camacho, CUC is conducting a regular inspection, monitoring and identifying corroded and deteriorated hardware that needs immediate replacement or repair work.
“As soon as we receive materials and parts, we immediately perform the necessary repair job in the system,” he added.
He said CUC will be announcing a power interruption schedule as the repair and maintenance program continues.
CUC, he said., apologizes for any inconvenience that the power interruption in Kagman and Capital Hill caused the residents there.
