Camacho, the president and owner of EFC Engineers & Architects, has been approached by different groups to run for governor this year.
But, he said, “as far as politics is concerned, at the moment…I don’t have any plans at all.”
Camacho said his focus remains his work at CPA.
“Right now, my immediate goal is to do my best here at CPA,” he said. “This is only my third month and there are more to accomplish.”
Besides Camacho, two other businessmen have expressed interest in the CNMI’s highest elective office — former Sen. Juan T. Guerrero and Joe Ayuyu, owner of the local McDonald’s restaurants.
The three have been affiliated with the Democratic Party in the past.
Camacho said he has to consult with his family before making a decision about his political plans.
“I have my family to consider and take care of,” he added.
He said his most important job now is to improve CPA’s financial condition.
“I have been tasked to accomplish certain goals at CPA,” Camacho said.
Through the combined efforts of the board, management and staff, CPA is now on the “road to recovery,” he said.
“We’re on our way to full compliance with our bond indenture issues,” he added.
