Newly installed Marianas Institute of Filipino CPAs and Accountants president Melvin Malvar of Tropex Garden Co. Ltd. said their group will hold a seminar on Saturday that will tackle various accounting challenges, including the stimulus package.
He said Edgar T. Aguilar, manager for Tax Services for Deloitte & Touche, will be the resource speaker.
Aguilar is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Guam Board of Accountancy.
Other topics to be discussed are the 2008 tax returns and the tax law that will affect the 2008 tax returns, Malvar said.
The main purpose of the seminar is to enhance the professionalism of accountants and non-accountants dealing with accounting work in the CNMI, he added.
The seminar will be held in Saipan Grand Hotel’s Seaside Hall.
Registration starts at 8 a.m. and the session will be from 9 a.m. to 12 noon.
Malvar said Aguilar’s presentation will include 50 slide shows.
He said participants will have the chance to raise questions regarding tax matters.
Malvar said MIFICPA has been sponsoring seminars and training programs geared toward the professional development of its members since 1994.
MIFICPA helped organize U.S. CPA board examination review sessions, he said.
On Saturday, the registration fee per participant is $12 which already covers light breakfast, a certificate of attendance, and seminar materials,
He said the $5 MIFICPA annual membership dues will also be collected during the seminar.
Malvar is encouraging early reservation because seats are limited.
