The society, though its executive director and judiciary branch public information officer Gin Gridley, launched the 2009 Ta Fan Eskuela — Let’s Go to School — campaign by turning over the 10 bags of school supplies to GTC acting principal Charlotte Camacho.
“The Northern Marianas Judiciary Historical Society had been donating school supplies to the schools in CNMI since 2001,” Gridley said, adding that their goal is to help provide essential school supplies students of public schools.
Gridley added that they will visit all elementary schools today and tomorrow to distribute bags of school supplies.
In the bags are notebooks, construction sheets, rulers, glue, pencil, eraser and other basic school supplies.
Gridley said the schools on Tinian and Rota have not been included in the past, but this year, they will be.
“We are including Tinian Elementary School and Sinapalo Elementary School on Rota in our distribution of school supplies this time,” Gridley said.
She added that the supplies come from the historical society funds.
Camacho said they still have to choose the recipients for the school supplies.
She may have to ask each teacher to recommend one student from each classroom to be the beneficiary of the school supplies.
“We are grateful for the community in helping our students in their strong desire to learn without having to worry about basic school needs,” Camacho said.
