Pirates rack up 166 points to win Summer T-Ball championship

THE Pirates have been crowned champions of the Northern Mariana Islands Softball Association’s 2nd Annual Summer T-Ball League 2025 after accumulating a total of 166 points during the playoffs held at the Miguel “Tan Ge” Pangelinan Ball Field on Saturday.

The Pirates solidified their place at the top of the leaderboard in their final game against the Mariners, winning 38-21.

They got the ball rolling right from the start, filling the opening inning with an endless string of hits and fully rotating their batting lineup with 12 runs scored. On the other end, the Mariners nearly matched the effort, but the Pirates’ defensive awareness made the difference as they held their opponents to seven runs to maintain a 12-7 lead.

Over the next two innings, the Pirates only strengthened their advantage, adding 13 more runs in the second inning against the Mariners’ five, stretching the score to 25-12.

In the third and final inning, the Pirates remained efficient, tacking on another 13 runs. Despite the Mariners recording their biggest output of nine runs in the bottom half, they still fell short and settled for defeat, 38-21.

Adding the 38 runs to the Pirates’ 128 runs scored in the regular season, the team accumulated a total of 166 points to secure the top spot and the championship title for the season.

The Pirates’ roster includes Waylon Beyer, Huck Bauer, Callam Torres, Isaih Ito, Scarlett Flores, Cece Willsey, Kaiyo Alepuyo, Veeda Beyer, Juriah Santos, and Denisha Santos.

The Blue Jays finished second with 134 points after defeating the Athletics, 23-15, while the Comets clinched third with 124 points after edging the Padres, 18-17.

The Athletics placed fourth with 123 points, followed by the Padres with 119, and the Mariners with 99.
