CNMI Customs Inspectors on Monday intercepted a large amount of crystalline substance concealed inside a package, Department of Public Safety spokesman Adrian Pangelinan said.
Customs tested the crystalline substance, which weighed about 2.1 lbs., and the result was presumptive positive for methamphetamine.
According to DPS in a statement issued on Wednesday, the package was claimed by a woman who was later apprehended by the CNMI Drug Enforcement Task Force.
“This investigation led to an additional two arrests where a search warrant was also executed that same afternoon,” DPS said, adding that a “large undetermined number of drugs (methamphetamine), and money were discovered, and procured by authorities.”
The case has been forwarded to the court, DPS added.
Arrested were 40-year-old Huaishu Wang, 55-year-old Yongbing Ni, and 48-year-old Hong Jie Li, DPS said.
No other information about the case or the defendants was available as of press time Wednesday evening.
