Southern United wins U13 soccer title

THE Southern United Football Club won the U13 girls division championship of the TakeCare Youth Soccer League by defeating the Paire Football Club, 5-2, Saturday at the NMI Soccer Training Center.

In the first half, Southern United played aggressively and created  a scoring opportunity for Rosie Saralu who quickly found the back of the net.

Paire, for their part, turned defense into offense with finesse to  eventually allow Beatrix Gross to even the score, 1-1.

Southern United then launched another onslaught led  by Saralu who scored her second goal for a 2-1 lead.

At the start of the second half, Paire caught Southern United by surprise when Phoenix Gross slipped through for a clear shot and the second deadlock of the day, 2-2.

Undeterred, Southern United applied relentless pressure on Paire  which could not prevent another goal by Saralu.

Paire tried to tighten their defense, but Saralu could not be stopped, delivering  two more goals to secure the win for Southern United, 5-2, and the U13 girls title.

Third place

In the battle for third place, Kanoa Football Club 1’s late-game rally was the key to their victory over Tan Holdings Football Club 1.

THFC 1 struck first with Angel Calayag’s  goal in the 14th minute mark of the first half, but Kanoa’s Lynn Ha Ye unleashed three consecutive goals to secure the win, 3-1, and the third place spot.
