Letter to the Editor: DHS funding is available

Thank you for having Ms. Chai Cruz respond to some of the inquiries we sent you earlier. Now, we still have a question pertaining to your request to delay for six months the implementation of the federal government assuming responsibilities of our immigration control.

We ask this question primarily since you are speaking about funding for the federal government and its border control implementations. Isn’t it that the federal government has the authority and the ultimate budget control to place there biometrics system in place?

National security and defense matters are a federal responsibility which means they should have the funding regardless whether it was excluded from Public Law 110-229.

This is what is taking place in our homeland:

1. Fitial continues with his detrimental lawsuit, delaying and hindering positive discussions and solutions to our economic woes with the federal government.

2. CUC is still operating on two engines in Power Plant 1 — no major improvements on rehabilitation and repair efforts, and Aggreko is here to stay and the governor has declared another state of emergency for CUC.

3. The Retirement Fund is about to collapse.

4. Government mass layoffs are being proposed

5. The fiscal budget is being tossed around as the deficit continues to escalate.

The list goes on Congressman.
