Letter to the Editor: To the NMC board chairman

I certainly don’t believe that anyone is trying to circumvent NMC’s policies in terms of grievances, but there is a huge difference when grievances are completely ignored.

Can you please explain what you meant by “everybody is going to be in a difficult situation if they favor indirect and hidden agenda?”

Are you making threats Mr. Cepeda? So it’s O.K. that individuals or groups petition the removal of Dr. Fernandez without actually hearing the grievances being set forth by those affected, which ultimately in your own personal view “have no merits, grounds or are non-binding. “

Let me ask you this serious question. Do you know and understand the First Amendment rights of individuals under the Constitution?

I find your biased and negative quick responses to the criticisms being hurled at Dr. Fernandez rather unprofessional. When was the last time you ever entertained a student, staff or faculty that have grave concerns or grievances? Or are they even allowed to speak with you?

Here’s how to handle this situation:

1. Allegations, Complaints, Concerns TRUE or NOT — you never take sides, you stay neutral.

2. You look, listen and understand the situation (evaluate the problem) before you act on anything.

3. Show some respect, sensitivity and ensure that the true nature of the situation is being addressed.

4. Find a positive and sound solution to the situation.

Now, if you don’t mind since you have made such threats on the issues we would like to notify you that we will be closely monitoring any form of unjust retaliations upon any employee, staff, faculty Mr. Cepeda and please act professional when you do approach this matter.
