HOD OKs bill paying OEK annual salary

House Bill No. 8-2-1, HD1 has been transmitted to the Senate for action yesterday.

The bill stemmed from the Constitutional Proposal 2-257, changing the manner in which the members of the 8th Olbiil Era Kelulau from a fee per session type of compensation.The new bill changes it to an annual salary rather than per session fee.The bill said each members shall receive a salary of $50,000 per year and that the compensation compensation shall be paid according to rules and procedures to be promulgated by the OEK.In the last OEK, a similar bill was introduced but contains riders increasing the salaries of members of the Executive Branch and the lawmakers.The said bill also contained the Casino measure and the Open Ship registry Act.The bill was vetoed by former President Tommy Remengesau.
