KAGMAN and Saipan Southern high school are currently the top teams in the boys division of the Public School System Interscholastic Outrigger Race.
In the 500m event on Saturday at Kilili Beach, KHS seized the upper hand as they excelled in rhythm to clear the course with a time of 03:01.000 and earn 5 points.
SSHS was only four seconds behind, settling for second place with a time of 03:05.700 for 3 points while Marianas High School was in third at 03:42.150 for 1 point.
In the final round, however, SSHS blew through the starting point and never looked back to clock 03:09.910 for 5 points.
KHS finished second with a time of 03:13.110 for 3 points while MHS again placed third at 03:42.170 for 1 point.
With the completion of the 500m events, KHS and SSHS had 8 points each while MHS had 2 points only.
In the 1000m race, KHS led the preliminary round completing the course with a time of 06:34.770 to bag 5 points while SSHS trailed behind with a time of 06:37.130 for 3 points. MHS was third at 07:32.480 for 1 point.
But in the final round, SSHS once again stole the show, finishing first at 06:40.900 for 5 points. KHS was second at 07:05.370 for 3 points while MHS was third at 07:52.580 for 1 point.
KHS and SSHS are now sharing the top spot with 16 points while MHS is in third place with 4 points.
