FRANK “The Crank” Camacho, 32, on Saturday lost to Manuel “El Loco” Torres, 27, after the referee stopped their UFC fight in the first round in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The two fighters engaged in stand-and-bang action right from the start. Torres opened with a straight but Camacho replied with a 1-2.
Both fighters then exchanged more punches with Camacho attempting to take down his opponent, but Torres defended well.
Camacho then launched a couple of leg kicks but Torres thrived in the stand-up fight and landed powerful punches.
Camacho was hurt and looked for the clinch to recover. But as soon as it was broken off, Torres resumed the onslaught.
When Camacho went for another hook, Torres unleashed a 1-2 counter that sent The Crank to the canvass.
Although Camacho still had some fight left in him, referee Herb Dean decided that he had enough and stopped that fight at 3:27 of the first round, handing the win to Torres via KO/TKO.
Camacho’s record fell 22-10 while Torres’ climbed to 13-2.
Camacho was hoping to end his four-fight deal with UFC on a good note but, “obviously, we did not get the results we wanted,” he said on social media.
“I prepped the best I could; had the best fight camp leading up to this fight. I had fun, put it on the line, tried my best and we ended up short. That’s the name of the game.”
Asked what’s next for “The Crank,” he responded, “Just back to the drawing board with my team and family. I’m healthy, have a beautiful family, amazing friends and paradise islands. Life is good.”
