Koror elects a new legislator today

The seat was vacated after then KSL legislator Paul Ueki ran for a senatorial seat in the 8th Olbiil Er a Kelulau on November 4, 2008 and won.  Koror State voters will have to elect 1 of 6 at-large candidates to fill in the vacant seat.

The candidates and their supporters were actively present along the main road of Koror campaigning and waving at motorists in an attempt to persuade voters to vote accordingly.

The Koror State election is slated to begin at 7:00 a.m. today and will run until 7:00 p.m. tonight.

Pursuant to Koror State laws, all campaigning activities– inclusive of portrayal of candidates’ signs, posters, and flyers or candidates’ transporting or providing food or other things that could be considered campaign incentives – should have ceased as of 12:00 a.m. today.  Further, any candidate or supporter who fails to adhere to Koror State election laws will be cited.

Tabulation of the election results will begin as soon as the election is over today.  Results will be certified when all of the absentee ballots are counted – barring that no suits would be filed – and the vacated KSL seat would be filled.
