A fighter from the land gold mines

Fashioned by time and success in kickboxing and Wu Shu, Eduard Folayang conquered URCC with a humble but excellent beginning.

In his debut fight in 2007 URCC X, he took the crown from reigning champion, Allan Kho.

Then, he defended his title twice in URCC XII “Supremacy” in July 2007 and in URCC XIII “Indestructible” in November.

Now, the URCC reigning champion is among the Asian fighters who will make Gorilla Warfare’s Battle Ready more exciting.

To be held in Saipan World Resort’s Royal Taga Hall on Saturday, Battle Ready has just brought Folayang on Saipan for the first time.

“I can give my very best in this fight because I trained a lot to prepare myself for this,” Folayang said, although he also admits he is still trying to gauge his opponent.

All he knew is, his opponent did not have as much experience in the arena as he did, but he is “Battle Ready” to put up a good and fair fight.

A combination of Judo and kickboxing Wu Shu became Folayang’s passion that brought him to South East Asian Games then, to much more prestigious, Asian Games.

A member of Philippine team, Folayang brought home a gold medal in SEA Games 2003 and SEA Games 2205.  Folayang literally hailed from the land of gold mines—Baguio, Philippines.

He managed to win only bronze medal in 2001 Asian Games and improved to silver in 2006. After de-crowning Jujitsu- rooted Kho in 2007, he defeated Caloy Badoria, the man who beat Saipan’s Frank “The Crank” Camacho earlier that year.

He still wears the URCC crown after defending it from Yaw -Yan aritist, Jerry Legaspi.

Folayang is among a number of Filipino fighters of Team Lakay established by Wu Shu expert, Mark Sangiao.
