Dr. Robert A. Underwood, president of UoG and Dr. Patrick Tellei, president of PCC, reaffirmed and strengthened collaborative relations yesterday by signing the agreement.
The goal of the agreement is to establish academic transfer and articulation guidelines and to exchange knowledge and expertise in cooperative transfer policies within the framework of accreditation and current practices.Under the agreement, UoG and PCC establish and makes specific the current guaranteed transfer of courses taken by students at PCC. Guaranteed transfer credit will be awarded for courses passed with a grade of C or higher.Students transferring to the University of Guam must complete at least 40 upper division credits to earn a baccalaureate degree. The students must finish all courses in their major area of study and must take their last 32 credits at the University of Guam.Students holding an Associate of Arts degree from PCC will be exempt from taking the placement tests in English and Mathematics if course equivalencies are transferred with a grade of C of higher.Courses that are developmental, vocational or technical may not transfer unless individually articulated within a program.The agreement sets out a process and suggested equivalencies and timeline for articulation of all General Education credits offered at PCC based on the 2008-2012 catalog.Dr. Underwood said the Articulation agreement will benefit both the University of Guam and the PCC and will help facilitate the attendance of the students at the University of Guam.Dr. Tellei for his part said the agreement will enable Palauan students starting their higher education at PCC to have a seamless transition articulate to University of Guam.The signing was witnessed by PCC Dean of Students Marensia Edward, PCC Dean of Academic Affairs Alvina Timarong and Sherman Daniel, Associate Dean.
