Assault incident now a homicide

Subdural hematoma is a collection of blood on the surface of the brain as a result of a serious head injury.

The Department of Public Safety spokeswoman Lei Ogumoro said Omisong, 44, passed away at the Commonwealth Health Center around 1:25 p.m. on Thursday.

“This incident is now classified as a homicide, and this is still under investigation,” Ogumoro said.

Guam’s forensic pathologist, Dr. Aurelio Espinola, was scheduled to conduct an autopsy last Friday evening.

Doctors at CHC said the victim suffered major injuries. The victim was in a coma since he was brought to the hospital on Feb. 27

Police officers who responded to a disturbance report in front of Leo Poker in San Jose past 3 a.m. on Feb. 27 found the victim lying unresponsive on the main road. Medics who were summoned to the scene transported him to CHC.

Police learned that a witness overhead screaming from outside his home and went out to check.

He told police he saw two male individuals running toward the direction of San Jose Mart but he was not able to identify them.

He then discovered the victim lying on the road.

DPS investigators are requesting the assistance of community members who are requested to call the Criminal Investigation Division at 664-9045/55 or Crime Stoppers hotline at 234-7272 if they have any information regarding this crime.

A reward of up to $1,000 will be given to any information that will lead to an arrest. All calls are kept anonymous and no caller ID is used.
