Eagle Construction claws SMEC 79-64

EAGLE Construction bagged their fifth win in the masters division of the Saipan Centennial Lions Club Basketball League by taking down SMEC, 79-64, Saturday at the TSL Sports Complex.

SMEC’s players were in sync in the first quarter with Brillo and Odicta contributing five points each while Bong, Guidote and Emerson chipped in a few buckets of their own to give their team a 15-11 lead.

Eagle Construction had a rough start, but they found their footing in the second canto with Simoca attacking the rim to score six points while Itaas displayed his range with two triples as their team seized the lead, 30-26.

In the third quarter, Eagle Construction’s Simoca picked up where he left off, scoring  eight points while team mate Ocampo delivered seven and the rest of the team contributing a few buckets.

SMEC fell further behind, 40-54, with half of their points coming from the charity line.

In the final quarter, SMEC went all out in an effort to regain the lead as Guidote exploded with nine points while Brillo sank seven.

Fortunately for Eagle Construction, Rabago stepped up and scored seven points, including one from beyond the arc, to maintain his team’s lead and secure the win, 79-64.

Joining the winner’s circle was BlueHaus Ali’i with a blowout victory over IT&E, 111-54, in the open division.

BlueHaus Ali’i’s top scorers were Ehrol Peredo with 27 points and Talania with 18.
