Japan Embassy showcases an acclaimed movie in Palau

According to Bernie Besebes of Japan Embassy, the showing of the movie in the varying states is part of a cultural program that aims to portray Japanese culture for the people of Palau and at the same time, provide insights of Japan.

“Our office and the Japan Foundation hope to provide an opportunity for the people of Palau to learn more about Japan,” Besebes said, “And in the process, we are hopeful that the relationship between the two countries is further enhanced.”The Japan Embassy, Besebes said, will be going from state to state to show Nabbie’s Love. According to Besebes, the movie is a romantic comedy, which has been rated for the general audience – suitable for all ages.  In addition, the movie, produced in 1999, depicts the lifestyles of small islands in Japan about 60 years ago, which the older generations would be more aware of and could probably relate to.According to Besebes, she has made arrangements to show the movie in Ngatpang on March 6, Airai on March 8, Koror on March 14, and Ngarchelong on March 15.“We showed the movie in the Angaur State last Saturday,” she said. “The residents of the state did enjoy the movie.”Besebes declined to divulge further details about the movie except that “it is a must see.” Moreover, she said that there is no fee charged for viewing the movie. Anyone interested to learn more about the movie or its showing can contact Bernie at 488-6455 for further information.
