The band competed in three categories, Solo, Rock and Concert Band and they managed to win gold medals for solo and rock.
The band will compete again for the Concert Band and they hope to win in the category. Olivia Serrano, a student from Saipan Southern High School claims, that she is very proud of her school’s band in representing the CNMI well and and she is happy that they are bringing home two gold medals for the school.Jovencio Camacho, a SSHS graduate, says “I’m very proud of my school and I know they have a great chance on winning in any competition.”This is the fifth year for the Tumon Bay Music Festival organized by the Guam Territorial Band and the purpose for this event is to “showcase the region’s various musical talents”. The event began on March 6 and will end at March 16, 2009.
