GCA holds Science Fair

For this year’s competition, she said, participating students were allowed to research on the Internet.

“They can get ideas from the Internet but they have to present original projects,” Dalusung said.

There were 58 projects submitted by students from first to fifth grades; 34 from junior high school; and 30 from high school.

Dalusung said the students are competing in the categories of physics, biology, chemistry, health and earth and space.

First grader teacher Leah Garfil said her students’ projects reflected the knowledge they have learned throughout the school year.

Garfil said her class submitted 12 projects.

The judging will be based on the scientific method, scientific knowledge, and presentation and creativity.

There are 35 judges, and they include school staff members, parents and members of the National Honors Society.

Dalusung said the Science Fair is conducted every other year, and alternates with the Science Quiz Bowl.
