Department of Public Safety spokeswoman Lei Ogumoro said CID will no longer conduct further investigation into the recovered human bones.
“The bones found in Marpi belonged to two individuals and date back to World War II,” Ogumoro said.
World War II ammunition was also discovered next to the bones.
She said the bones were discovered in the Marpi homestead area during a site clearing activity.
“When construction workers were unearthing the ground with a bulldozer, they found the skeletal remains,” Ogumoro said.
She added that All-Hazard Management Professionals, or AMPRO, and the DPS Explosive Response Team members are at the location monitoring the construction excavation for any unexploded ordnance and other hazardous materials.
