Fiji’s acting director of youth and sports, Sakaraia Tuva Naivalu, said the secretariat has received indications that American Samoa will send a 25 member delegation while Niue plans to send 30 participants.
“Our secretariat had sent out intention to attend forms to 30 countries and territories in the Pacific region through the Secretariat of the Pacific Community earlier this month,” Naivalu said.
He said the prompt response from the two countries was seen as a positive sign by members of the organizing committee.
“We should be sending out registration forms to the countries by next week and this is a bit more detailed and requires them to note down names of their youth delegates,” he said.
The regional youth event is planned for July 13-18 and will be held on the University of the South Pacific Laucala campus.
