On Tuesday, federal immigration officials will conduct a site visit at the college to determine whether Eucon can be included in the federal student and exchange visitors program, Wei said.
He said their application for I-20 visas for their foreign students is in anticipation of the federalization of local immigration this November.
Form I-20 is a U.S. Department of Homeland Security document issued by colleges, universities, and vocational schools that provide supporting information for the issuance of student visas, Wei said.
“We have students coming in under local immigration without any problem for so many years, and we may be facing problem when federalization happens,” he said.
If Eucon gets the approval of federal immigration authorities, its students will be issued I-20 visas.
Wei noted that Eucon International College has been in the CNMI for 10 years now.
“We are preparing ourselves for federalization so can continue to support the island’s economy,” he said. He said they are intensifying their promotion efforts in South Korea and China to entice more students to study on Saipan.
