Microl Corp. leads with 48 used cars sold, claiming a market share of 44.4 percent. Joeten Motors followed with 31 used cars sold or a 28.7 percent of the market share, while Triple “J” Corp. sold 29 units for 26.9 percent market share.
The sales of brand new cars for the first quarter of 2009 dropped by 50 percent compared to the 190 units sold for the same quarter last year.
The brand new vehicles sold for the first quarter included 55 sedans, 12 trucks, five vans and 23 sports utility vehicles.
Of the three dealers, Microl sold the most brand new cars with 43 units. Triple “J” Motors sold 27 while Joeten sold 25.
Toyota remains the island’s favorite brand, with 42 units sold during the three-month period. Nissan came next with 16; Mazda, 13; and Hyundai, 8.
Joeten Motors distributes Nissan, Ford, Honda and Kia. Microl sells Toyota and Chevrolet while Triple “J” Motors is the local dealer of Hyundai, Mitsubishi, Isuzu, Suzuki and Mazda.
CADA president and Joeten Motors Corp. general manager Matthew Deets earlier told the Variety that residents were on a “wait and see” stance because of the looming federalization of local immigration.
