NZ lobbies Washington over Pacific free trade

Foreign Minister Murray McCully told Clinton that the TransPacific Partnership Trade Agreement has the potential to make a significant contribution to freeing Asia-Pacific trade.

The partnership was set up to enhance liberalization within the region.

It has been in place between Brunei, Chile, Singapore and New Zealand since 2006.

Australia, the United States and Peru are in negotiations over joining.

McCully says he is looking forward to the U.S. administration’s trade policy review.
