THE Office of the Attorney General-Criminal Division will charge a 17-year-old student for threatening a high school campus, Assistant Chief of Police Simon Manacop said Wednesday morning.
The acting Department of Public Safety public information officer, Manacop said the minor will be charged with disturbing the peace and terroristic threatening.
DPS also stated that the 17-year-old was detained Tuesday afternoon and remains in custody.
DPS declined to say which high school the minor attends.
Chief Prosecutor Chester Hinds told Variety that an officer is working on a warrant.
Classes in the Public School System began on Tuesday morning, Aug. 19, but were interrupted after PSS announced it had received a bomb threat directed at high schools on Saipan.
“We are working closely with our School Resource Officers and DPS to thoroughly clear all high schools on Saipan and ensure the safety of our students and staff,” PSS said at the time.
Later, at 8:51 a.m., PSS declared an “all clear” and instructed students and staff to proceed with classes as scheduled.
