Palau Public Utilities General Manager Ken Uyehara meanwhile is in Guam to meet with the Guam power Authority to request for assistance in obtaining engine parts.Uyehara is also scheduled to meet with the management of Commonwealth Utilities Corporation (CUC) in Saipan. An engineer from Philippines has also arrived last week to share knowledge in the power transmission and distribution planning and maintenance.“PPUC will be one step ahead in the future planning for growth in power generation, power transmission and power distribution,” a statement from PPUC said. The Power Distribution Division (PDD) is also making plans to remove the overhead lines which earlier caused a problem resulting to power outages in some areas in Airai and Koror.PPUC said the overhead lines crossing the open water are no longer “energized” as the power is now being flowed through the submarine cable.PPUC is still repairing Mitsubishi Engine No. 12 but PPUC said that clear indication of mechanical maintenance results will be available early this week.Engine No. 12 has a capacity of 2.80 MW.The other big engine at the Malakal Power plant meanwhile is still being addressed by the PPUC management through coordination with the Office of the President and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
