In a memorandum to all departments of the national government, Nimea states that Takesy “has many years of distinguished service as a senior diplomat and other leadership positions in our government and regionally, most recently ending two terms as the first Micronesian director of the South Pacific Regional Environment Program.”
Takesy will assist with the fifth-year Compact review.
Nimea said this is “work which we feel is of utmost importance at this juncture, and therefore the rationale to bring in someone of Mr. Takesy’s extensive experience and knowledge on international issues.”
As director of SBOC, Nimea is the person leading the Compact review which will be completed in December.
