The office will be open to the public again from May 4 to 8 but only from 7:30 a.m., to 12 noon.
It will have to close again in the afternoon so that it can continue to finish its backlog.
To provide efficient and more improved services to the public, acting Zoning Administrator Therese T. Ogumoro said they will implement a new schedule of office operation beginning next week.
Ogumoro said due to their lack of staff, they have to deal with an increasing number of zoning applications and inquiries.
“It would be in the best interest of the general public to make immediate adjustments to our office’s hours of operation for a temporary period of time,” she said.
This temporary schedule will help reduce the time to complete the application reviews and permit processing, she added.
“The work involved in the process requires time and detailed technical assessment to stay consistent with the requirements of the law. These include preliminary interviews with applicants, verifications and actual permit processing,” Ogumoro said.
She hopes that their new schedule will reduce the waiting period for future permit issuance to a minimum of two to three days.
