Gov’t lawyer gets $10K pay raise

On Friday, the governor informed Senate President Pete P. Reyes and Speaker Arnold I. Palacios about  Assistant Attorney General Braddock Huesman’s pay hike.

“I hereby certify and grant my approval to allow Mr. Braddock J. Huesman, assistant attorney general, at the Office of the Attorney General, to receive an annual salary exceeding the $50,000 cap set by the Compensation Adjustment Act. Mr. Huesman will be receiving $60,000 per annum,” the governor said.

Huesman has been with the AG’s Office for more than two years now.

He served as a clerk for Supreme Court Justice Alexandro Castro and was an attorney for the law firm Scheef & Stone in Dallas, Texas.

Huesman is currently assigned to the Department of Public Lands but he’s been representing other government agencies and officials in different legal matters.

The recommendation to increase Huesman’s salary came exactly on the same day  Superior Court Associate Judge David Wiseman ruled the removal of acting Attorney General Gregory Baka as a defendant in Sablan’s petition.

Sablan wants the administration to disclose details  regarding its transactions with the Washington-based law firm Jenner & Block, which represents the governor in the  federalization lawsuit.
