At around 2 p.m., the tire of the Star Marianas Air plane transporting guests from the Tinian Dynasty Hotel & Casino blew after the aircraft landed on the runway.
“The mayors were scared,” Variety was told.
There were about 15 mayors and municipal officials from the Philippines who attended the four-day conference which started on May 14 at the Fiesta Resort & Spa on Saipan.
On Friday afternoon, they flew to Tinian to meet with its municipal officials.
Star Marianas Air’s Robert Christian decline to comment.
No one was hurt but the plane had to change its tire.
Variety was told that the “hard landing” of the plane could have damaged the tire.
