(CNMI Legislature) — Speaker Arnold I. Palacios and Senate President Pete P. Reyes are inviting members of the public to a legislative joint session to receive the 2009 State of the Commonwealth Address at 10 a.m. on May 27 in the House chamber on Capital Hill.
FDM live fire training
(EMO) — The U.S. military will conduct inert mine releases on Farallon De Mendenilla on May 19 and 21, 1 p.m. to 7 p.m.
On May 21, from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m., the military will conduct live fire releases in the same area.
The general public, especially fishermen, commercial pilots and marine tour operators, is urged to stay away from this area during the time and date indicated.

Commercial fuel price increase
(Wushin/D&W Ent.) — As a result of a repeated review of the cost of products in the market, the commercial fuel price has increased by $0.12 cents per gallon effective today, May 18.
The price per gallon will increase by $0.15 cents.

Peaceful assembly today
TODAY, May 18, the various organizations of guest workers in the CNMI will stand united and speak as one, a media release stated.
The leaders of the different organizations of guest workers and other concerned individuals will hold a 72-hour peaceful assembly in front of the TSL Plaza in Garapan starting at 7 a.m.
Organizers suggest that people come and stay for a few hours before and after work hours.
You can also come and spend your lunch or dinner breaks there.
Participants are urged to bring water, snacks/food, folding chairs, umbrella, candle or flashlight.
Other members of the community who believe in the guest workers’ cause are invited to join the assembly.
NMC information session
(NMC) — Individuals who participate in Northern Marianas College’s free mini-information session will qualify to receive fee waivers for the summer and fall 2009 semesters. These waivers for the application fee and placement test fees represent a savings of about $75 for either semester.
The session will take place today, May 18, in Room D-1 at the As Terlaje campus, from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Individuals interested in furthering their education and advancing their professional careers are encouraged to attend.
