Man faces charges for stealing clams

Greeley Gabino was charged with grand larceny for stealing 2,500 pieces of clams from the farm of Xavier Ngirameong in November of 2008.

Gabino appeared in court last week and entered a not guilty plea to the charge.He also posted cash bail of $40 and was released from custody.The affidavit of probable cause stated that Ngirameong filed a complaint at the Criminal Investigation Section on February 16 after he found out that his clams were already missing.The affidavit stated that in November of 2008, Mari culture employees planted about 4,000 clam seedlings and transferred 2,500 of the three year old clams to a section of his farm in Ngiwal State.In December of 2008, he visited his farm and noticed that 20 of the clams were missing.The affidavit further stated that some of the shells were left near the farm.Ngirameong left for Guam on February 7 and returned on February 14 and found that all of his 2,500 clams were all missing.Each clam has an estimated value of $10.The affidavit stated that Gabino admitted taking the clams from the farm beginning before Christmas 2008.
