NMC announces Charter Day winners, awardees

Jose Camacho Tudela was lauded for his involvement in different college activities, his academic performance and “outstanding contributions in community service.”

Tudela, along with the other three awardees, will be given a designated personal free parking space at NMC for one year, $300 and a plaque of appreciation.

The other awardees were Greg Sablan, NMC curriculum resource center coordinator, as staff of the year; Bobby Merfalan, instructor of NMC’s School of Education, as faculty of the year; and Leo Pangelinan, NMC director of counseling program and services, as supervisor of the year.

The staff of the year award is given to a person with at least two-year consecutive full-time employment at the college; is involved in extra-curricular activities that promote NMC; has a good attendance and good standing; maintains a professional demeanor; and promotes and supports institutional goals.

The faculty of the year awardee should be employed at NMC full-time for a minimum of two consecutive years; is involved in extra-curricular activities that promote the college; and maintains a professional demeanor.

The supervisor of the year award is given to a non-teaching individual who holds a supervisory position full-time for a minimum of two years; is active in extra-curriculum activities; has good attendance and is in good standing.

Perry Inos, Office of Student Activities and Leadership Program manager II/coordinator and Charter Day hospitality chairman, said Spectrum was named the best dance crew; Miki Nadia Dela Cruz is this year’s Marianas Idol; the Mrs. Pugua title went to Ivan Mereb, a.k.a. “Mary Star”; and the Battle of the Bands was won by New Underwear.

David John Apatang Jr., this year’s Charter Day event coordinator, said Spectrum received pre-paid cards from IT&E, $100 and two cellular phones.

Dela Cruz got a $100 pre-paid card and a cellular phone while New Underwear got $380 worth of gift certificates and $100 cash.

All the winners also received trophies.
